Field title

Description

Section data source

Excel

Select Excel if you want to check your terminology against an Excel list as data source. This corresponds to the previous test method according to termXact 2017.

TBX/XML

Select TBX/XML as the data source if you want to convert and check a TBX or XML file exported (from a database). Currently, the TBX dialects of Across, MultiTerm, qTerm and termXplorer can be processed.

Service

only for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Flare

Select Service if you want to check your terminology directly against the termXplorer terminology database.  If you use termXplorer and it is hosted by TermSolutions, you will receive this service in the termXact 2020 configuration when the add-in is delivered. The fields URL, user name and password in the Service tab are then already filled in. If you use termXplorer but it is not hosted by TermSolutions, we can set up the service individually for you. Please contact support@termsolutions.de for this purpose.

Section File

File Location

Specify the file path to indicate which term database you want to use. Click on button Browse to select the term database file. Normally .xls- or .xlsx files are used.

Note: For InDesign and FrameMaker, this path must not begin with the tilde character (~) (this is the case when you select the terminology list from the desktop or its subdirectories).

Sheet Name

Enter the name of the Excel sheet that contains the term database.

Password

This functionality is currently not included.

The following field descriptions are combined for the selected data source Excel, TBX/XML and Service. Some fields are greyed out in TBX/XML and Service because they are automatically used from the data source. These fields are marked with only for Excel.

Note: The Service functionality is currently only available for termXact for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Flare.

Section Language to be verified

Select the abbreviation for the language to be checked (e.g. DE for German).

The available language abbreviations are automatically loaded into the selection box.

Section Data

Header Row

only for Excel

Enable the cklick box if the term database contains a header row. termXact then automatically inserts the header row names.

In this case only rows of the term database are taken into account that correspond to the filter criteria.

Column with information for exact matches

Column e. g. types of words that contains picklist values like abbreviations or product names which should be found exclusively as whole-word.

Note: This field must be filled in for the check to work. If you do not have a suitable column available, you can enter any value here (e.g. “Test”).

Filter Column

Enter the name of the column that contains the filter value to run a check based on a reduced term database (see also description above: Filter Term Database).

Note: For InDesign and FrameMaker, you must select a value from the selection box before using the Save As function and before checking the document, even if you are not checking against a reduced terminology list.

Section Column Values

Figure 1: Example for a simple term database

Important: The column that contains the concept id must be filled. The concept id marks different terms that belongs to the same entry, i. e. terms are held together in one or several languages (term autonomy). Also the column that contains the language code (e. g. language codes corresponding to ISO) must be filled. This also applies if only one language exists in the term database.

Important: If you use Excel as your data source, all columns between Concept ID and Term will not be displayed in the result window. All columns after column Term will be displayed up to the entry that has been defined in the field Last column to be shown in the result window.
