Webinar: Arguments for terminology work (in times of AI) for employees (german language)
The advent of machine translation – whether neural or with the help of large language models – is shifting the remit of language services in the company: from translation itself to quality management of machine-translated texts.
Above all, however, there is now a real switch to providing multilingual terminology work before translation. Terminology is no longer created during the translation process and then updated, but must be provided to the machine translation systems in advance.
As a result, terminology work in the company is becoming the new task of more broadly based “linguists”, “language experts” and “LangOps”, who compile knowledge of terms and designations in all required languages, make it available in a company-wide terminology platform and ensure its distribution.
This is accompanied by a new perception and recognition of terminology in the company as an essential contribution to language (data), quality and knowledge management. In addition to the familiar arguments for terminology work, such as clarity and consistency, the increase in efficiency in digitalized business processes can now also be cited as a further argument.
The webinar highlights these new aspects and opportunities for language services.
