- Data exchange with tbxConnect
With tbxConnect, you can use your terminological data anywhere.
TBX (TermBase eXchange) is the international standard for mapping and exchanging terminological data. TBX ensures that your data can be used in various software applications. The problem: TBX is not always identical with TBX. Different TBX dialects have emerged over the course of time. That is why we have developed tbxConnect.
tbxConnect handles almost every conversion job.
tbxConnect converts your terminological data multi-directionally from one dialect into another. The highlight: Several target formats can be generated in one conversion route. This is how tbxConnect automates data exchange processes between various internal and external systems like terminology databases, authoring systems, verification tools, translation memory systems, content management systems, ERP systems and PIM systems.
tbxConnect automates your data exchange processes.
tbxConnect can be integrated easily. Only minor adjustments need to be made to local paths or network paths. Extensions are also no problem: tbxConnect can be accessed via a web service interface as well. However you would like to exchange your data, tbxConnect does the job for you: The program can not only be called up automatically via a batch file (for example as a CronJob or via Windows task scheduling), your terminological data can also be made available in the terminology checker at any time.
tbxConnect is available in attractive bundles.
Do you rely on termXact as your terminology checker? Very good. With tbxConnect, you can use automated TBX exports instead of checking against Excel spreadsheets. And if you use tbxConnect in combination with termXplorer, you can import TBX dialects from other manufacturers automatically. By the way: You can get as much tbxConnect as you need. You can either integrate individual converters as stand-alone solutions or opt for the full-service solution which includes all converters in one bundle.
How much tbxConnect do you need?We would be happy to make you an individual offer.

Location
- Monterey Conference Center
- Monterey, California
Locworld52, the leading conference for localization experts, networking and industry innovation, is back this year: October 28-30 at the Monterey conference center in Monterey, Calif.
LocWorld is known for its outstanding presentations, a lively exhibition hall and first-class networking opportunities.
Since 2003, it has offered the localization and language industry a platform for exchange and further development.
In recent years, the multilingual communication industry has made great strides in the field of AI thanks to deep learning (e.g. genAI).
However, in order to use AI effectively at an enterprise level, challenges such as data efficiency and interpretability need to be overcome.
An integrated approach that combines deep learning with symbolic AI offers solutions here.
This year’s 6th roundtable “Multilingual AI Round Table: Integrated AI – Deep Learning and Beyond ” brings together AI experts to discuss the possibilities of these approaches for solving business problems.
Prof. Dr. Rachel Herwartz has been invited to this roundtable, where she will discuss with colleagues about
- Integrated AI: implementation and future prospects
- Intelligent quality control with human intervention
- Deep learning and multilingual content: Applications in the enterprise sector
- AI beyond LLMs
- Ethical AI tools as part of procurement processes
entertain.
We look forward to welcoming you there and to exchanging ideas with you!

With the advent of machine translation – whether neural or with the help of large language models – the translator’s task is shifting from translating texts to quality management of pre-translated texts and, above all, to multilingual terminology work even before translation. After all, who knows more about terms and their terminology than specialist translators?
However, having high-quality terminology in foreign languages recorded in a termbase is still something new for many customers. Until now, they have tended to see terminology as a “by-product” that is created with every translation job and is included in the translation memories. With translations created by AI, this no longer works – and so terminology work is becoming a mandatory basis for machine-translated texts.
For many translators, setting up multilingual terminology, integrating it into the training and translation phase and monitoring it in the quality assurance process is a new and challenging task – but one that can be a lot of fun!
The webinar provides the necessary knowledge about the current requirements for multilingual terminology work in times of AI, about methods and their implementation in various tools. 1.5 hours of theory is followed by a workshop section with interactive exercises in which participants can also reflect on and evaluate their own experiences with tools and terminology projects.

The requirements for terminology management and reconciliation systems in companies are increasing. Termbases must be easy to use and self-explanatory for inexperienced users from all departments and around the world, while at the same time meeting all interface requirements with and without AI. This is why the requirements for the design of termbases are becoming increasingly complex.
At the same time, customers and their systems provide Excel lists, glossaries or bilingual dictionaries as input, which first have to be adapted to the requirements of modern terminology management before they can be adopted. Terminology management systems are therefore just as challenging as maintaining other systems in the company, such as a content management system.
The webinar provides you with the necessary knowledge about the current requirements for the design of multilingual terminology databases. 1.5 hours of theory will be followed by a workshop section in which participants will be able to implement various concepts in online databases and reflect on and evaluate their own experiences with the conception of termbases.

Few systems in a company are as complex as a terminology management system, which has to meet all the requirements of knowledge management in the company, the knowledge of terms, their definitions and their designations.
This is why most systems support a completely free termbase design and company-specific data categories.
However, due to its complexity, this also requires some fundamental thought about how this terminological data can be exchanged with or integrated into other systems.
The webinar provides the necessary knowledge about current exchange formats and tools that can facilitate the conversion. 1.5 hours of theory is followed by a workshop section in which participants can compare different exchange formats and convert them into other formats.

BDÜ online training: Terminology work in times of AI and MT for advanced users – creating concept maps

Concept maps are indispensable for the retrievability and indexing of content, e.g. for Industry 4.0. They are therefore mostly used in CCMS content management systems. Furthermore, there are employees in the IT department of a company who deal with the creation of taxonomies that can be used to organize the knowledge of an organization.
A system of terms is also created when definitions are created as part of terminology work, initially only in the head of the person entering the terms. This knowledge about the relationship between terms can be organized hierarchically in a termbase using data categories such as department, subject area or product line. However, each term can be related to every other term via a concept map. The type of relationship is also indicated. Some terminology management systems are even developed entirely as concept systems.
The webinar provides the necessary knowledge about the possibilities of visualizing the relationship between terms in a terminology management system. 1.5 hours of theory is followed by a workshop section in which the participants examine the systems they use to see how the relationship between terms could be represented, followed by their own development of a term system in an online tool.
